Read a book to your kids!? Wait, you don’t have the right, do you?

According to the Authors Guild, using a text-to-speech device to read a book voilates the author’s audio book rights.

Authors Guild: Kindle 2 can read books aloud. And Kindle 2 is not paying anyone for audio rights.

This is CRAZY. A low-tech equivalent is that you’ve bought a book, and you hire a person to read it to you. The Authors Guild said, “You can’t do this because you didn’t buy the audio rights. You have to buy an audio book."

The Authors Guilds are just blood suckers who want to profiteer by piggybacking on others’ innovations.
